This week I’ve gotten back in to hard sparring. So far the knee is holding up well. There is still the arthritic pain in both that will never go away (donate to arthritis research), but the joint is moving well. There is still a little swelling as well, but not enough to stop me anymore. I did some take down matches and full matches from standing and it held well, so I’m happy with that.
Since I haven’t been worrying too much about the knee while rolling, I’ve been able to focus on actual Jiu Jitsu. Lol. I’ve gotten right back in to feeling my rolls. I’m starting to look ahead again and see what possibilities I have to move towards submission. Last night I was working with a great guy but lower skilled, so I was working on setting up submissions right from the get go.
From standing I was using the loop choke and x-choke to set up my takedowns (assuming I didn’t finish it on my feet). From my back I kept my guard open and tried to make my sweeps end in a position to submit.
All in all, I feel really good about where I’m at with my training. I just need to keep working on the weight thing and flexibility. š
I know, a positive post. What’s up with that?
