Monday Night Roll

In my quest to become a legitimate blue belt, I took a little video of my Roll from Monday with teammate Josh.  He is a great wrestler, so my goal was to avoid a power double and try to stay active if I was on the bottom.  I’ve been doing quite a bit of nogi lately, so I felt a little rusty in the gi.

I feel shitty about the arm bar.  I could feel it coming and didn’t do anything to stop it.  Arghhh!  I don’t care about getting submitted anymore.  I know a lot of new BJJers hate getting submitted at class.  I was one.  But long ago, I stopped caring about that.  The only time it bothers me now is when I make a silly mistake, or I see it coming and do nothing to stop it.  And it’s not the submission itself that bothers me, but rather the situation that I failed to control.  After the reset you’ll see an ok take down and some satisfactory top control.  🙂

If you want to give me a critique, go ahead.  Try and keep it to 1 or 2 points.  My brain is small.

The end
