Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
“Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting (Ne-Waza) fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by master Mitsuyo Maeda. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentation, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their family. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and choke holds to defeat the other person. — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_jiu-jitsu“
I started training BJJ in 2012, but I’ve been submission grappling since 2007. It’s funny, you’d think that I would have some sort of skill by know. Trust me, I don’t. I SUCK! The wins on my competition record are all from in house tournaments or against opponents whom were having their first competitive match ever. I am no danger to anyone!
